| Well, I am starting this topic because of something I noticed about myself. Honestly speaking, before this year~ I tried to avoid the topic of Nuclear Proliferation. Perhaps because I felt powerless when it came to the issue because it was really a very blurry subject and also a very dangerous one. I guess, in short, I felt like it was an issue that the government had to take the initiative to end since they held most of the nuclear weaponry (hopefully they hold all....I can't imagine what it would be like if regular individuals had that kind of power...). In addition to that, there is always the fear that the government may not be telling their people the whole story behind the nuclear weapons they have. So yeah, it makes me wonder~ how people got interested in the topic of Nuclear Proliferation. And what their thoughts on Nuclear Weapons were before that. How much of a threat do you feel like it is...? o.o; Just curious~ | |

| well, before i wasnt interested in this issue. the only time i was interested are whenever i see the effects of dropping the bombs in japan. i know the government arent letting on as much as they truly know. i dont like nuclear proliferation. why? it's kinda obvious. i just dont like the idea of us having nuclear wars knowing how it's gonna effects us all. face it: everyone knows about nuclear wars and bombs and such and they all kow that it's bad and they saw what happened. yet, people insist on having the president carry a button with him whenever he get out of th country where if he presses it, it will start a nucleawr war. >.<'' | |

| Well yes the A-bombs were bad o.o but then they made the H-bombs >>~ and then who knows what. So if someone started a nuclear war...the world would most probably come to an end >> they are way too dangerous. | |

| Well...I am interested in the subject cause...basicly...I like politics. Nuclear threat specifically is very interesting to me. On the one hand I would want the Gov't to destroy all nuclear weapons...as it is the right thing to do in my mind. However, If our Gov't were to destroy all the nuclear weapons it would kind of destroy our position of power as well. Other countries would find that they could destroy us far more easily than them. So it is like a game. We want to get rid of all nukes, but we can't get rid of our own as it would make us a perfect target. Also, I can't spek right now so this kinda sounds wierd and not the way I wanted it to...sry bout taht. | |

| I love that quote too~ haha xD;; so funny because I was going to respond to something else saying I liked the quote but this turned out to be the perfect place to do it. But yeah, it is kind of a game >>~ but the US did start it -.-; of course then you can argue Oh~ Germany would have developed it and blahblah~ -.- but bah! =-.-=~ if we start any kind of disarmament process it has to be slow and it has to go for all nations alike... so that no one can use the "defense" excuse to keep their nukes. | |

| It's true...we did start it, but then being the first, all we have for example is hindsight. Everyone else got to use us as an example. But of course I do think that the US probably has also done more than any other to move away from use of nuclear weapons. It has become somewhat of a cheesy quote thanks to such movies as Spiderman, but it applies rather well here I think. "With great power comes great responsibility." I think the US does it's best to step up and take that responsibility. | |

| Well~ yeah o.o~ but at the same time, the US does seem to be hypocritical when it asks other nations to stop its proliferation when it continues to have these weapons =/~ I can understand those nations are a threat to us~ but then again, what nation isn't a threat? I am sure other nations consider the US a threat. But meh -.- this gets way too complicated~
=] but this is why I wanted people from other countries voicing their opinions here. It would be more helpful for people in the US to see their opinions. | |
