| I was wondering, do people think it is a benefit? I think any energy that replaces the type of fuel we do is somewhat beneficial. But..the problem with nuclear energy is that...it is first of all very expensive to start off power plants if a nation does not already have them. Also...what is done with the waste? I think France claims that they recycle it... but I'd like to/need to learn more about that. But yeah o.O I would imagine powerplants are not exactly environment friendly. But I don't know. I was just curious to see if others would consider it a benefit. | |

| I was actually going to make a post about this. I think that making energy with Nuclear Fission is kinda a bad idea as, like you said, there is waste, and this waste is somewhat difficult to dispose of safely as it cannot really be destroyed. If they could harness the power of Nuclear Fusion, the H-bomb being an example, to make energy, this is much cleaner and actually produces more energy. The problem with harnessing this power is that this will open the door to much larger weapons. Personally, I think that the direction they need to move is to solar power. It is the cleanest safest energy, and the most abundant. Right now, the only major groups that seem to be interested are those interested in it for use in Space, like NASA. They are in fact trying to make solar panels that are both cheaper to create, and more efficient. | |

| yea, i think solar enerfy is the ebst way to go. if i remeber right, i saw on either NOVA or the Discovery channel (i was that bored) that they put the waste in barrels that are "guarenteed" to not open and throw them in the ocean far from civilization. and collect it years later to study it and such. | |

| Yes, I think solar energy is most likely the most effective and abundant. But the problem is many countries are claiming that they will use the knowledge they are building up through nuclear proliferation is going to be used for energy instead of weapons. Of course, that is just a claim...they can of course use it for building WMD's. Also they want to be admitted to those states that are allowed to have nuclear weapons as recognized by the NPT. -.- Ah~ so complex. | |

| But then...if they can "dispose" of nuclear weapons by turning it into energy somehow, I would be for that xD;! But still....I guess it isn't the ideal source of energy. | |

| no, it'd jsut give them an excuse to continue their experiments. | |

| True, but we never know who is really doing what experiments. A lot of nations say they don't know any more nuclear weapons or research and knowledge.. but I have no idea how you exactly get rid of knowledge... unless like you zap peoples brains o.O;; but yeah... we can never really make sure no one does any experiments o.O; especially....the US and Russia. IF they claimed they got rid of their nukes...I would most likely laugh...because it is pretty unrealistic. But I don't know....I don't think any nation can be trusted to not continue their nuclear experiments. | |

| or you can just hit them in the head with a hammer with hopes that it will induce amnesia. xDDD
but i have to agree with that, unfortunately...

| [and I would like to add to amnesia comment: and brain damage]
But yeah...I always wondered how nations "remove" their nuclear knowledge... it's really not something you can get rid of just like that. Claiming it and doing it are two very different things as well....

| well, if someone who shouldn't found out, they can always commit the ultimate sin (murder) or do somethign else that would render the secret-finder o their prowess. xD | |

| Already thinking of evil thoughts? Haha, well yes that is a possibility o.o;... lol~ but I thought the ultimate sin was suicide? Haha, oh well. But yeah...I don't think it would be nice if the government or some organization went around killing all the nuclear researchers, engineers, scientists, and workers. | |
