Would it be beneficial for a nation to have some kind of global standing and acknowledgment? If so, then doesn't nuclear technology kind of give them some kind of global standing? People do tend to recognize countries with nuclear tech., so in that way--are those nations somewhat of attention seekers? But besides that I guess, one benefit a nation can gain out of nuclear proliferation is gaining some kind of global recognition and standing. Do you agree, or believe that it can have an opposite effect?
